Chiropractic Torque Release Technique

Introduction:

The method of adjustment called Torque Release Technique (TRT) in Chiropractic language is known as “low-force”, “neurologically based”, “tonal”, “subluxation centered” assessment and adjusting technique. Your Chiropractor may still occasionally add on other techniques, if and when your progress indicates they might be needed.

Torque Release Technique has firm foundations in science and has been created through rigorous scientific research and development. It is an extremely gentle method of adjustment and has been published in major Medical and Chiropractic Journals. TRT aims to improve health and well-being by improving the function of your nervous system.

Chiropractic is not just about “bad backs”

Spinal subluxations can best be described as specific sites of spinal malfunction leading to irritation of the body’s central computer, the nervous system. A series of chemical reactions in your nervous system, when working properly, result in you thinking “I FEEL GOOD”.

If the nervous system is allowed to express itself without interference (free of subluxations) the person can express full potential. If the nervous system “feels good”, then usually the rest of the body “works well”.

What is involved with a TRT Adjustment?

Your Chiropractor checks your spinal column for areas where the nervous system is being stressed by subluxation and will deliver an adjustment using the Integrator. This instrument sounds like a staple gun and will feel like a quick impulse into your spinal column.

This impulse reproduces what the hands were intended to do with much more specificity and less force than ever possible by hand. The advantage of the Integrator is that it can deliver a specific frequency into the nerve endings of the spinal column, exactly where the nervous system has become irritated.

TRT is a technique to release and reduce neurological tension, assisting your body to self-correct. It helps to reset the normal vibrational frequency of the nervous system.

The Integrator

The Integrator instrument, also known as the “Endorphin Gun”, is a tool that was originally manufactured for use in research only, but the advantages and benefits achieved when the results were measured lead to overwhelming demand for its use in private practice.

When using an Integrator, the exact point on the spine that requires adjustment of nerve frequency can be pinpointed and can deliver the perfect amount of energy to help normalize nerve function.

An Integrator adjustment can be delivered with the spine in a relaxed position with the perfect amount of force, whereas a traditional adjustment requires the spine to be stretched to a position of tension followed by a manual thrust to sufficiently open the spinal joints to activate a nerve response.

What About My Pain?

Pain is not always a reliable sign of what is wrong, how much something is wrong, or where something is wrong. A detailed understanding of the nervous system reveals that tension in one part of the spinal system can transfer tension to another part of the spine. A headache can come from the upper part of the neck; pains in the shoulders and arms can radiate from the lower neck or upper back; chest and abdominal pain can be referred from the mid spine. These are all examples of referred pain. You can also have subluxations that are serious, but pain free!

The good news is that TRT is a system that aims to detect and direct your Chiropractor to the source of spinal tension and the adjustments are focused to reduce the root of your problems. You may not always be adjusted or treated where you are feeling the pain as your Chiropractor will be looking at your body from a more holistic perspective. Seemingly remote and unconnected aches and pains can mysteriously disappear once you start receiving TRT treatments.

The Emotional Connection

Your emotions can play havoc with what is happening in your spine and your spine can play havoc with your emotions. Dozens of chemicals, known as Neuropeptides, act in the nervous system as transmitters of information. What this means is that when you “feel” an emotion, your entire body is feeling it! If you become depressed, emotionally volatile or feel as though your nerves are ‘strung-out’ you could become inflicted with “chronic pain syndrome”. Medications such as anti-depressants or pain killers may be prescribed by a doctor to give temporary relief, but until care includes optimizing spinal and neurological function, there will not be any long-term improvement.

Occasionally when we start to adjust your spine, you may experience some changes in your emotions. Usually positive ones, but sometimes as you start to peel back through layers of tension in your spine and spinal cord, these levels of tension can trip the emotions that initially caused your problems. Let us know – as this may mean past unresolved issues may need some additional support.

Bottom line: When your spine is released your emotions will relax. When you unwind your mind your spine will release. Torque Release Technique is precise, gentle and effective.
